Here is a chance to put away the cell phones and iPads and communicate as a family the old -fashioned way at “TOYS ARE TERRIFIC”, an afternoon for children of any age to create, learn and play with their parents (grandparents, etc.) and families.
The event will take place on Sunday, December 14, 1- 4 p.m. at the Pascack Historical Society’s barrier- free museum,
19 Ridge Avenue, Park Ridge. No Registration or fee is required. All materials will be provided.
Participants will get a hands-on experience when they see and touch some of Society’soldest and most interesting toys. Children made their toys in olden times and attendees will be able to create a “toy theater” similar to those of the Victorian era.
Participants can sit in a real size 1880s sled pulled by a full size mahogany horse (great for holiday photos), type on an old fashioned typewriter, hear a player piano, use a stereoscope and hear a 1913 record player made by Thomas Edison.
Complimentary homemade sugar cookies and juice will be served.
