Over the past week, the loader crew completed the fourth pass of leaf pickup in Zone 4 through Zone 6. On Monday, December 8th, the DPW will begin the final pass through every zone. The loader crew will begin where they left off on Friday, working in Zone 7. Once they complete Zone 7 they will continue into Zones 8 and 9. Once they complete Zone 9 they will move to the west side, starting in Zone 1. The loader crew will continue through all zones until the west side is complete. Once complete, they will switch to the east side and continue into Zone 6 and finish up in Zone 7.
In addition to the loader crew, the leaf vacuum crew will begin the final pass on the main roads, starting with the east side main roads. Once the east is complete, the vacuum crew will continue onto the west side main roads. Once all main roads are complete, the leaf vacuum crew will assist the loader crew in the zone which they are working.
The volume of leaves has been decreasing over the past few days, resulting in less time for the crews to complete each zone. At the current pace, we anticipate completing the curbside collection of leaves by the end of next week. This will be the final pass for all streets. Once the DPW has passed your street, we will not be back. However, leaves can still be brought to the Park Ridge Recycling Center.
